RuggaMatrix – Show 056 – The Christmas Show
RuggaMatrix_-_Show_056_-_The_Christmas_Show.mp3
This is our Christmas Show with special guest Lote Tuqiri and Peter Hewat like you’ve never heard them before. It’s our last show for 2009 but we’ll be back in two weeks to tackle the all the big issues of 2010.
Ewen McKenzie and Les Kiss take a well earned rest while we engage in some serious but mostly light-hearted banter between Lote and Pete.
It’s Lote’s most extensive interview since taking up his contract with Leicester so hear what he has to say about playing for the Tigers, eye gouging, his future and a host of other subjects.
The last quarter of the show is really a bar chat between a couple of good friends. (This is a disclaimer I guess)
And don’t forget it’s your last chance before December 25 to get 20% off your associate membership when you buy a coaching manual from bobwyerrugby.com.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to one and all.
Team RuggaMatrix.
RuggaMatrix – Show 046 – London Irish
RuggaMatrix_-_Show_046_-_London_Irish.mp3

London Irish have shown they are the real deal this season after grinding out a tough 12-9 win over Heineken Cup champions Leinster at the RDS.
Today RuggaMatrix speaks with their inspirational captain Bob Casey about the rise of the Exiles this year. Casey is back in contention for Ireland selection and he hopes to add to his 7 national caps this autumn. The big lock took time out of his fortnightly poker night with teammates to give us a wide ranging and entertaining interview.
As always RuggaMatrix goes into depth like no other show.
Our In-Depth Analysis this week looks at MIDFIELD – SKILL V POWER.
As the Test Match season rapidly approaches in the northern hemisphere we examine what the midfield line-ups might look like. Our coaching masterclass goes into detail about the 12-13 combination and whether size matters. As usual it’s a listening must if you are coaching a rugby team – check out www.bobdwyerrugby.com.
Bruce McLane fills in for Ewen McKenzie who is busy setting up shop with the Queensland Reds.
RuggaMatrix – Show 040 – Good Service
RuggaMatrix_-_Show_040_-_Good_Service.mp3
RuggaMatrix spends a second straight week with the world champions as they prepare to finalise their Tri-Nations victory in season 2009.
Strong running centre Jaque Fourie is our special guest star as he warms up for his 50th Test.
South Africa needs only one bonus this weekend against Australia to claim the title but Fourie tells us that they want the win and are not settling for anything less. We cover a lot with Fourie, from the Lions franchise, his future, tactics and teammates.
Les Kiss is still unpacking his old rugby league gear in Ireland so we’ve giving him the week off again but he is brilliantly replaced by London Irish fullback Peter Hewat. Hewat is preparing for a big year with Irish as they are back in the Heineken Cup.
The Guinness Premiership and the Magners league are ready for kick-off and we quickly scan the competition ahead of us.
Ewen McKenzie is a busy head coach at the moment with a midweek game following Stade Francais’ big win at the weekend. We also get an emphatic denial that Lote Tuqiri is speaking or has spoken with the glamour Paris team.
Our In-Depth Analysis this week is GOOD SERVICE thanks to www.bobdwyerrugby.com.
The scrumhalf can cop a brutal pounding by the experts and the public if their passing game isn’t quite right .. but is it always the player’s fault? Our expert panel looks a little deeper than passing technique to find some answers. Once again another coaching master class.
RuggaMatrix – Show 025 – Hewy and the Fat Guy by the Pool
RuggaMatrix_-_Show_025_-_Hewy_and_the_fat_guy_by_the_pool.mp3
It’s our 25th show and there’s plenty to celebrate in this episode.
Joining us for the second time is London Irish back Peter Hewat who talks about the gripping Guinness Premiership Final against Leicester at Twickenham last weekend.
Hewat’s side went down by a heartbreaking scoreline of 10-9 in front of 80 000 people. He talks about the clash of styles with the Leicester Tigers and how Irish never considered restricting their expansive game. Hewat is well placed to comment on Leicester’s chances in Saturday’s Heinkenen Cup Final against Leinster at Murrayfield.
Bruce McLane is back on the show as the USA Super League nears its conclusion … and yes the title of the show comes from the colourful New Yorker. Les Kiss is also somewhere in North America but it took a while to find him. Ewen McKenzie was just where he was supposed to be as he prepares for the Top 14 semis.
The panel analyses the Super Rugby semifinals and revisits their pre-season predictions.
Our subject for in-depth analysis this week … the ELVs brought into the official laws of the game.
Did the IRB get it right? What about the breakdown? Again McKenzie and Kiss give you the best analysis on the game.
RuggaMatrix – Show 004 – On Frozen Ground
RuggaMatrix_-_Show_004_-_On_Frozen_Ground.mp3

While the southern hemisphere Super 14 teams finalise their preparations in energy sapping heat their northern cousins are battling through their respective competitions in bitter cold.
This week RuggaMatrix deals with the latest developments in European competitions.
Les Kiss covers England and Ireland while Ewen McKenzie informs us about some interesting issues in France. Justin Marshall’s bizarre suspension by Montpellier is just one of several intriguing stories coming out of France.
RuggaMatrix welcomes award winning journalist Simnikiwe Xabanisa from the Sunday Times in South Africa. Sim will join us every few weeks to update us on developments in the Republic.
He’s a great character and switched on to all things SA Rugby. Check out Sim’s work at the Sunday Times.
Our special guest star this week is London Irish attacking machine Peter Hewat. The former NSW outside back has been a critical element during London Irish’s rise to the top of the Guinness Premiership.
Pete talks candidly about his growth in London admitting that he took time to find form in the Premiership and other competitions. Now he’s one of the form players in Europe and he opens up to RuggaMatrix for the full story.
It’s another cracking show this week brought to you by Inside Rugby – the definitive rugby magazine.
